“Portrait of Another Artist” looks at painter Sam Vanderveken being to all appearances at work in his studio.
Under normal circumstances his hard work would most likely lead to a finished canvas or wall painting.
But the process to deliver a tangible painting instead being directed and manipulated by Byebyebn, with every stroke set by the painter erased as soon as it has dried on the wall, becomes an impossible task.
The installation shows the painter endlessly struggling to finish his work, starting over and over anew, the setting being a disproportionate scale-model of his replicated studio.
